ABOUT

LOCAL FISHING KNOWLEDGE is the first company in Maui to offer extreme kayak fishing tour, innovative fly fishing tours for monster bones, and to rent out top of the line fishing gear with delivery and pick up to most homes, hotels and condos in the Kihei and Wailea areas. We practice mostly "Catch and Release" in an effort to help conserve the indigenous species of the Hawaiian Islands. Please help us by adopting the same respect for our culture and ocean in preservation for future generations.
There is nothing like being out on the water, with no sound of traffic, phones, television or an excess of people. Just you and your guide enthusiastically fishing for bucket list fish. The only sound greater than the serenity of the ocean is the sound of your reel screaming by the run of a fighter. I assure you, a Fishing trip with us will change your outlook on fishing itself. With many fish species to try your hand at, you will not be bored.

JOHAN, PRIMARY GUIDE
Johann Hoogland has been residing and fishing in Hawaii for 12 years. Fishing has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember. He spent a good portion of his earlier years pursuing Steelhead and Salmon on the Salmon, Snake and Clearwater rivers of Idaho.
He has fished all over the U.S. West Coast, chasing everything from Salmon to Bass to Sturgeon, and everything in between. After moving to Hawaii he began chasing inshore species, including the Ulua (Giant Trevally), and since has become enamored with the challenge of catching O’io (Hawaiian Bonefish) with it’s intense fighting nature. Whether he is fishing from a kayak with spinning gear, or chasing a variety of amazing species on the fly, Johann loves it all and simply enjoys being on the water.
